how do they shave the micromatic is suppose to aggressive is all i know i also have a featherweight i havent shaved with any of them yet

The Bullet Tip is the least aggressive, and my least favorite, in the MM line. The Push Button has the same basic head design as the Featherweight but a much better shaped handle in my opinion.

Grab some blades from Walgreens or Rite Aid and give them a whirl. There's a bunch of us that prefer the Gems over every other razor around. While you're at it do yourself a favor and get a Gem 1912.

I believed the hype about the micromatic being aggressive for too long. I recently picked one up and it has delivered my best shave ever with zero irritation. I love SE's and you do have to be careful but I don't think anymore so than with almost any other razor. At least give it a try is all this post is intended to say.

Point well taken think i will be fine I shave with a goodfella often and then i shave with my slim on 9 wtg and 7 atg and if not that 7 wtg and 5 atg. Im getting a barber pole slant too. For christmas. I highly doubt it will be to aggressive

You know, I think this place would be better served if we referred to a razors efficiency, or lack thereof, instead of how "aggressive" or "mild" it is.

I like the way you look at things. just like a slant if you properly used will definitely give you a good shave and efficiently removed your hair. If used wrong with applied pressure or with a Gillette slide you can efficiently remove half your face as well:lol::lol::lol::lol:

I'm pretty interested in that Soviet razor. The pic of it in the case looks like there is an enormous gap between the bar and doors. Make sure to get some pics up after they arrive!

Keep in mind that there are three (four if you count the "guiding eye" seperately) verisons of the "Micromatic". They don't all shave the same in terms of how agressive they are.

- Open Comb Micromatic
- Clog Proof Micromatic
- Bullet Tip Micromatic
(bullet tip, with guiding eye)

I would assume the Soviets cloned a SE or two. They were the home razor of choice for quite some time before Gillette developed the DE. Saying that, I don't think I have ever seen one.

You are absolutely correct sir as I am trying to try them all out. For the record, the razor I was referring to as giving me my best shave ever was the dreaded Open Comb Micromatic! Sorry for the confusion and thank you for pointing out my error. :blushing:

I do not recall ever seeing GEM type razors going back to '70s. Mostly straights and three piece DEs. The copy of Gillette DE seen above is most likely late or post '70s. Price stamp says 2 rubles, back then pretty expensive.
