My new (cherry) SOC just arrived and I am DELIGHTED to report that there is no boar funk either wet or dry. Can't wait to use it.

Recently got the same brush, and mine didn't have any funk either. It's been great from the first the lather and keeps getting better. You're going to love it, and I'd highly recommend the SOC boar to anyone who has been on the fence about buying one.

I found mine beautifully made, and am still breaking it in. My only issue is that I wish it was about 20% smaller, but that is just personal taste. It is the quality you hoped other boars would be.

Mine is in ash, but wood choice aside this is one of the very best boars currently made IMHO.

All this talk about the SOC boar has prompted me to bite the bullet. Like the three boar brushes in my rotation weren't enough. Thanks guys.

I love my SOC boar. It has a permanent spot in my rotation and I am never getting rid of it. Particularly because the wife likes to use it also!

Congrats - I also love mine.

I bought a Semogue 2000 - much funk. Lovely contrast with the SOC (if I was doing it again I'd have two SOC's - my brushes do not always dry out overnight depending on the time of year so I like to be able to rotate hence I keep two badger and two boars on the go).

I am loving mine, it's breaking in nicely. I, too, wished it was a tad smaller.

For bowl lathering in my custom Dirty Bird Bill Bowl, which has a 2" depth, I find the size of the SOC is perfect for me. The loft is just right so that I don't clank the handle against the side of the bowl, as happens with all my other brushes. I'm impressed with the backbone of the brush, too. I had expected more loft to result in less backbone, but that has not turned out to be the case with my SOC.

Another recent SOC buyer here!

Mine's cherry also.
After my very first boar, an ultra-cheap Herban Cowby (IIRC) and a stab at upgrading with an Omega 49, I broke down and bought one about two weeks ago. Out-of-the-box it beat the Omega hands down. I'm using it every other day until I've got 30+ uses. Tomorrow will be number 9 and you all are right... it just keeps getting better and better.
I have a pretty small stable; Omega Mighty Midget mixed, Vintage Blades Rooney Pure Badger, and an Omega 636 Lucretia Borgia Silvertip. I can forsee the SOC becoming the go-to brush in very short order.

I just recieved my ash wood SOC boar from my main man,THE ITALIAN BARBER---Super fast delivery from Canada and no boar funk!!!! I now am waiting on a Muhle synthetic from Connaught
in England.
