What's new

New M&F STUBBY 'Blonde Badger' 2-Band brushes coming - Small, Medium & Large !

I just got an email from classicshaving.com about their new M&F Stubby line of Blonde Badger brushes.

They will sell 3 Stubby versions - as though Lee has simply copied the name from the Rooney's over to his M&F brushes.... :biggrin1:

I'm going for a Medium Stubby M&F BB 2-Bander - but these new brushes aren't exactly cheap, but I hope they are well worth it

I was sent these fine photos by Karen from Classicshaving.com - they look pretty awesome to be quite honest :001_wub:

First off, damn you for tempting me with these gorgeous brushes, geez they are dense and sexy!

Second, the prices...really? My custom brushes I have purchased directly from Lee + shipping overseas cost MUCH less than these as advertised. No thanks!

Hmm... Lee's Blond reminds me of Rooney Finest's hair. These look dense. Perhaps not as dense as finests, but "Finest Light" maybe?

I want a stubby 1, but can't buy any more brushes I'm afraid. Still it'll be interesting to see people's opinions on it. Especially people with Rooney Finests.

As for the price, I don't know about your M&F Cess, but mine aren't half as dense as the stubby's in those pictures. The prices are high, but I don't think they're more than I would have expected for a double-stuffed M&F. I paid $130 or so for my 26mm (with half as much hair as those) more than a year ago.

My M&F chubby is über dense, although I can't say whether or not it is quite as dense as the one's pictured above without doing a side by side comparison. Not to mention a Chubby lll which comes overstuffed as well, costs well below the large size here. You do make a valid point regarding the super-stuffed knots, however I am still sufferering from sticker shock. These prices are rivaling the "LE" Simpsons which I personally think are way overpriced for what you get. Ymmv of course.

Despite my ranting about money, the brushes do look tempting though don't they?

Yeah. I've lamented that M&F didn't offer extra dense brushes on many occasions. Now that I can't buy any more brushes, he starts.

I agree that the prices are a bit STEEP - or let me be honest, the prices are VERY HIGH !

BUT with that said, maybe Karen and Classic shaving can offer us B&B members a discount of maybe 10% and free shipping.
I want a M&F Stubby Medium for sure - it reminds me of my favorite Simpson Chubby 2 in 2-Band and that brush is just 10/10 for me.

I simply need this M&F Stubby 2 Medium - or I'll die a slowly death :a46: (aren't we all)

Now I just need to find a lighter version of a Rooney Stubby 2XL in 2-Band.......and I'm all set, ready for the next brush purchase :biggrin1:

How does the blonde badger hair in these M&F brushes compare to the super silvertip hair used in the Rooney Stubby XL line of brushes? Is the difference in hair what warrants the extra cost of the M&F stubby brushes?

I've never used a M&F blonde badger hair brush so I am interested how different the hair is from the Rooney heritage Super Silvertip. My Rooney XXL has great backbone but I find the tips to be almost too soft for me. If these new M&F are close to my beloved Rooney Finest then I just may have to pick one up.

I have never really understood the whole Rooney and M&F thing. Basically taking the designs and names from Rooney and putting it on an M&F brush. It is all just a bit odd.

@ Claus-

Thank you for taking time to share this information. It's always good to know what's happening.

I've never tried a Rooney Heritage, but do have a couple Lee custom M&F brushes....a 2 band blonde badger in a L7 handle and a 2 band Heritage hair in a stubby 2XL handle (super dense, but still soft). they are both great brushes and Lee does some fine work.

sorry for the vague answer, I'd love to be able to tell you how they differ from Rooney Finest, but alas, I can't. :001_cool:

They look fantastic, but the prices seem a bit out of line compared to their Rooney and Simpson counterparts.
