New Ikon OC (late 2012/2013)

I have shaved with many razors (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php/321014-My-Collection-so-Far-(mostly)-PIC-HEAVY). I even started the B.O.S.S. I love them all in their own way for many different reasons.

BUT, SWMBO got me the new Ikon OC for Christmas, and I can't seem to get a bad shave out of it, regardless of blade, cream/soap, prep, or brush. It is a wonderful mid-aggressive razor. I know that there are many opinions of Ikon here, and there may have been some turmoil in the past, but this is a very well-designed razor. I still love my Traderes, Above the Ties, and Webers, but this thing is worth a shot if you want an all stainless champ.

Flawless construction. No machine marks.... perfectly homogenous in appearance. I agree.... it's a great mid aggressive shave as well. I can't get a bad shave out of mine either.... although my ATT Atlas R1 is more efficient.... but the Atlas R1 is pickier on which blade I use. I can't use a Feather in the Atlas R1. But, the Ikon OC.... I can put just about any blade in it and it will be a smooth shave. It's a precision made shaving instrument, that's for sure.

I really like my DLC, but I get a little smoother shave from the Ikon. I also liked that it isn't as expensive as some of their past ones have been.

I have both the new Ikons and for the the solid bar is a better shave in fact I like it more than I want to because the owner of the company is a...............................well you know what I mean

I did get the other base plate, but I think I like the OC better. Oddly enough, it is milder.

I've been quite interested in one of these myself but have been struggling to find a decent review of one, I really like the matt finish. How does it compare to the Tradere OC?

It is milder than the Tradere OC. Closer to the SB, actually.

I love this razor, I picked one up last week and I've been getting nothing but incredibly close shaves with just mild blades. I'm getting the hang of the angle now, so my next blade will be something more aggressive, I can see my tech and 38c sitting on display for the foreseeable future as I learn the ins and outs of this razor
