New Coates Cream

I just tried the new formulation of Coates Tea Trea and Rosemary shaving cream for the first time tonight.
Wow! That is a fantastic shaving cream!
It is very thick, slippery, and easy to lather. I really had a great shave with it.
The only thing I noticed is that there seemed to be a very slight burning feeling on the second and third passes, but it wasn't enough to be uncomfortable or anything. It might not be good for people with extremely sensitive skin, but I really enjoyed it.
This will definitely be in my regular rotation.
Have they released any other creams or products since they reappeared on the market?

I read another post where a couple guys were complaining that it was rough on their faces. Mantic seemed to really like it in the video he did on it.

How was the scent?

I liked the scent. It was pretty much how Mantic described, generally pleasant while neither scent really dominates.
I would be interested to hear what others didn't like about it. It performed very well for me.

I loved everything about the cream: latherability, cushion, scent, etc. I think there was too much tea tree oil in it though, because my skin reacted to it :mad3:

it gave me a decent shave but halfway through my second pass it started to really burn to the point of extreme pain

I've never had a reaction like that from a cream before and haven't really heard much about it except a couple of mentions in some other threads. and from what I've read, reactions from tea tree oil aren't very common.

The current Coates is really a copy of AOS. The soon to be released
"Original formula " is the one to get according to those in the know .

I think it's a great cream, in the same league as T&H and Trumper's for producing a thick, rich lather. I really, really like the scent.

I have no problem with irritation or burning with this or any other cream.

I shaved with the Coates for the second time today, and I noticed something different. The first time I used it I wasn't sure how it was going to lather, so I loaded the brush with what turned out to be way too much cream. This time I scaled back for more of a minimal amount. I still got more than enough great lather for three or four passes, but this time I didn't feel even the slight burn of the first use. Perhaps there is too much tea tree oil in it, but using less cream seemed to negate any adverse effects. Still loving it! :thumbup1:

This is interesting. Is there any additional information? When it will be available, for example?

I hope Mantic does another video.

I liked it. I thought the scent leaved a lot to be desired, but it lathers like a champ and I didn't have any burn issues. I'll use it again for my next shave and see how it goes. Only used it once so far (my rotation is too big).

This is my experience as well. Great cream, great lather, great shave. The scent was pretty faint. I like creams because their scents are usually a bit bolder than a triple milled soap - this cream's scent was not bold at all.

I had another shave this morning with the Coates. I used a Chubby 2, and whenever I used that brush I always use a little more cream than usual because it devours lather.

Anyway, I really like this cream, but it would be sooooo much better if it had a more memorable scent. Scent plays a huge part of what makes a soap or cream work for me, and unfortunately, this one'll have to go to the "won't buy again" list as a result. Of course, I'll be 47 by the time I finish the tub with all the other stuff I use in parallel.

Better get some of this.... I have noticed that the packaging states it's limited; Any ideas of how long they will have the cream on the market for?

I was in the "better get some" camp too, until I heard there is a good chance it will make my face feel like it was in a grease fire.

No thanks.

This is hardly a reason not to get something. I have no irritation issues whatsoever with Coates, and if you do, you can probably sell it on the BST at cost or slightly less.

Agreed. This thread is comprised mostly of the posts of those with sensitive skin; thousands of tubs of this have been sold and few have had this problem.

+1. Though it might also be the Rosemary...that's not something you see in creams that much. But whatever it is, it hurt like nothing else I've put on my face.

Try it. It hurts me like the very dickens, but it's clearly a wonderful cream, and smells great. Try to find somebody that'll sell you a sample, if you're worried about getting a whole tub. Then again, you could probably recoup your losses on a tub on the B/S/T, since there seem to be plenty of fans.
