New brush day!

So I had to make a trip to Luke AFB and will be here a while. So I did some research to see what I could find for local shave shops. I came across a Penchetta pen & knife that was about a 40 minute ish drive away in Scottsdale. Turns out this is the same people that operate The Golden Nib. So I bought one of their Penchetta brushes. It has a 22mm grade a silvertip knot. I am chomping at the bit to give it a try.

SWEET looking brush, and if it has a Golden Nib silvertip knot in it, you're going to be very happy with it indeed!

So here is my little review to go on with the pictures. I had to wait a while after I got home to get it worked in. I started with a little dish soap, then built up a lather with Cella and let it sit for a while. I left it lathered for about 2 hours. I wanted to leave it overnight like the Wiki said to, but got impatient. So I cleaned the brush and set up to shave. I decided to use Castle Forbes Cedarwood & Sandalwood as I just picked that up with the brush. I finally got the monster lather I was looking for. I had previously been using a AOS pure badger. I was never able to get the same kind of results out of that brush no matter what I used. The Golden Nib grade A Silvertip was super soft and was exactly what I wanted. I am really happy and may pick up another brush from them before I leave. And thanks for the compliments on the looks of the brush.

Penchetta is one of my favorite stores. What's not to like shaving stuff, pens, and custom knives. I have several brushes with their knots. In fact I just got one with the Grade A silvertip at the shop about a week ago that is just beautiful. If you get another I would highly recommend one with a two band finest knot. That is an outstanding knot. You will not be disappointed.

Thanks for the suggestion. I will look into that. I really do love the shop. The customer service was awesome. He took time and answered all my questions. And the brush is amazing. Extrememly happy with the purchase.
