What's new

Need some help please.

I found this old safety razor, while tossing out trash from my grandfathers bathroom. It was wedged under a piece of the floor in the corner of the closet. The house is pre 20's and my grandfather was old school til his passing. I'll post some pre clean and post clean...tell me what you think.

The only markings I can find say, Gillette and NOS, plus the numbers on the adjuster dial.

Thanks

Tis be a Fatboy ! :biggrin1:

A bit of elbow grease and you should have yourself a very nice shiney family heirloom

Nice score on a family heirloom!

Should clean up nicely with some "Scrubbing Bubbles" (to remove the limescale) and a soft toothbrush and toothpaste.

Don't worry if there's any brass showing...it's a Free Fat Boy! :biggrin1:

That's a nice find and a bit of family history. There should be a letter and a number on the underside close to the handle. You will have to clean it to see it. The razor was made in the 1959-1960 time period.

Last quarter of 1958. For cleaning spray on the Scrubbing Bubbles foam and let sit for about 10 minutes. Then brush with a toothbrush. It should come out fine.

Some after a few attempts to clean. It is coming along slowly, but I'll get it nice and shiney.

Again, thanks for the info, mom thinks it was a Christmas gift for her father.
