The case of this razor is pretty rough and has a slightly different finish on the head versus the handle. Velvet inside the case is rough and faded. Thanks in advance folks,
It's a long-comb Gillette NEW with a bar handle. What you're probably seeing there on the cap is the base red brass metal where the extremely thin gold plate has worn away. The case that it's in looks like it would have originally belonged to a Gillette Federal set, but as far as I know those always came with a ball-end handled NEW rather than the bar handle.
To answer your question with only a little tongue in my cheek, it's worth exactly what you paid for it. We here at B&B generally are not in the appraisal business, but I'd check the latest FleaBay sales to get a general idea.
When you get a chance, please head over to our Hall of Fame and tell us all a bit more about yourself. There are links in my signature to areas of B&B of special interest to beginning shavers--perhaps you might like to have a look at them. If you ever have questions or run into problems, don't hesitate to post them up. We're a welcoming and friendly group here, and there's always someone around to offer advice or lend a hand.
Enjoy your time here, happy shaving, and once again, WELCOME!!
