Need help finding a fragrance

Hello :)

I am in despair!

Trying to find a fragrance I smell on people here and there but I cannot identify. It's driving me insane.

It's hard to describe, but in my opinion, the fragrance smells like leather, sugar/caramel/toffee and spices, maybe with a hint of tar, all mixed together.

The funny thing is that both women and men seem to wear it from what I recall from the times I've smelled it.

Seems also like black people or people from exotic places tend to smell like that fragrance.

I don't know if its a perfume or simply an aftershave.

Anyone has an idea of what it could be?
A huge thank you in advance :)

Pinaud Clubman, Love the stuff and kinda smells like you described. CVS and Walgreens both have it.

I'm located in Canada!

Thinking about it, leather and caramel are the dominant fragrances. Tar and spices are in the very subtle notes. it all has a "sexy" and warm side if I can say it like that.

Gonna go have a smell at your suggestions this week and report back :)

A*Men def has a kind of carmel and tar thing for sure. If it smells like leather, it may be Muglers new offering, Pure Leather. All of the A*Men scents sort of branch off the chocolate/vanilla/carmel/tar/patchouli elements of the orinigal, and add a new note like leather, chili, coffee, whiskey.

There is also a women's version called Angel which is my kryptonite. It smells like cotton candy and on women it's like automatic beer goggles to me.

Le Male is also ubiquitous. But it doesn't evoke carmel and tar to me.

Since my guess is you're a young guy, try the A*Men or one of the flankers (i.e. Pure Leather) and also try Gaultier Le Male. They're both popular (too much so for some of our tastes), but young women seem to like them. Just please, go easy on the trigger with them. I smelled Le Male every 5 minutes last trip to Las Vegas. Both A*Men and Le Male are very potent scents.

You mentioned a lot of people wearing the fragrance, that's why I chose what I did. Is it really strong? I don't know if Vince Camuto is popular in Canada yet or not. Well, it's got more of a spice appeal. Something in the John Varvatos line wouldn't be so popular as you describe smelling it everywhere.

Try Le Male & A*Men. To me A*Men is real chocolaty. Sniff them, wear them. Let us know.

Thanks! Gonna look into these! Thank you a lot everyone!

@rickbone1 : it's not that strong, but you def. smell it when someone passes by and is wearing it. But depends on the way they applied it I guess.

If anyone else has suggestions, I'll just add them to my "must try" list :p

People from exotic places...

Hahahha I thought with the advent of modern travel and google-street view! the term 'exotic phrase' would become extinct.

or maybe JPG le male. I smelled this one one a woman recently and it was gorgeous on her (she was colored), never would have guessed that one on a female would work!

edit: if you like this one. try boellis panama 1924 I believe this is the original on which le male and rochas based their versions

Went out a spotted some : Le Male is what I was looking for. Maybe my description was not accurate in my OP, but these were the notes I assumed from the few times I've smelled it on someone.

Also found out that Guess Seductive for men is quite my kind of fragrance. So mainstream!
