All,
Well, I have finally hit the realization that, boring as it is, the Merkur 38C gives me the closest, smoothest, irritation free shave of any razor I have tried so far (Tradere OC and SB, Feather AS-D1, Muhle R41, Merkur 39C, and Futur) I do like the sledgehammer for 2-3 days of beard growth, but for day to day shaving, I just really enjoy the 38C. Here is my question:
I'd like a solidly constructed, multi-generational quality razor which approximates the 38C. I realize I am holding cheap pot metal with a razor thin (pun intended) chrome plating in the 38C. I'd like a razor I can pass down to my son some day, and I doubt that is the 38C. Also, I'd like SOME variety, so it would be nice to have the 38C, the 39C, and 1-2 vintage razors for a rotation.
Any ideas? Fatboys or Slims (adjustable, so presumably there is a setting close to a 38C)? Modern, well constructed razors other than the ones listed above?
