Need a lathering tutorial... for shampoo

Just tried the Wen. Doesn't lather at all. I did the hair combing thing as suggested for the first time. Ended up not losing any more hair than with lathering. Running a comb through wet hair isn't good, so I'll try it next time without the comb. Just wanted to follow the instructions the first time.

Too early to review it properly, but it seems to do a good job of cleaning. It's not harsh. Smells nice enough afterward, but faint, since it rinses out easily. The hair looks and feels good.

It's expensive, but I'll stick with it and see. The instructions say to use 24-32 squirts, which is obscene. My hair was thick with the stuff using maybe 10.

Thanks for the pointer.

Just might end up keeping my hair.

Just to follow up...

The Wen shampoo/conditioner isn't a very strong cleanser. There's also a residue, which is true of most conditioners, but since it's a combination product, there's no separate shampoo phase to remove it. I use a stronger shampoo occasionally to make up for it, followed by a no-tangle type of conditioner.

I'd like to keep using it, but it's pretty expensive. They use a subscription shipment model. You can adjust it to ship as infrequently as every 6 months. I didn't go into too much detail with them, but it's basically $90 for a quart of shampoo/conditioner and two small jars of the balm, styling cream, or "treatment". A quart bottle of the shampoo/conditioner by itself is $72.

Going to look for alternatives. Two that I heard about and intend to try are Deva-Curl No-Poo non-lathering shampoo, and Kiss My Face low-lathering shampoo.

Lather problems, even with shampoo, can be caused by hard water. This is why people from different area often get different results in lather ammount and quallity on the same soap.
