Natural sea sponges

I always wanted to try one of those natural fluffy sea sponges from Florida, but there are lots of sizes and types. I would like to ask you guys if any of you can recommend the size and type for a luxurious bath sponge?

I thought the best ones are the premium wool sponges, but I'm not sure.

I've never tried one, and have always been kind of weirded out by the idea of washing myself with the carcass of a marine creature. But maybe I need to get over that. I'm interested in hearing the replies from the guys who know.

I recently received one as a freebie with my order from Nancy Boy. Not sure what type of natural sea sponge it is but I really enjoy using it. It has a very, very mild exfoliating property and feels better than using a washcloth in my opinion. Creates and holds lather fairly well. No complaints here. Wish I had tried it years ago.

Me too.

The sponge is great for exfoliating and helps with closer shaves.

Lusitano, I live near Tarpon Springs, Florida, which is the home of the 'Tarpon Sponge Docks'. The boats come in daily and dump fresh sponges on the docks and they are then sold off. That being said, i've never used one!

i use one , about 5-6" (across) 3-4" high , i just keep it soaked in the sink and use it to wipe the lather off my straight ... ive heard to many storys of dingged blades on the faucet ...lol

The sponge is very good and soft, much better than those bath puffs, which are somewhat gritty.

I ordered a sample pack of three different types to use for my shower as well as wiping off the lather. Hope to receive them soon. Currently I shake the water off the blade as I rinse off the lather while shaving. I hope the sponge method works well. I saw this method on one of the YouTube videos. And yes, I'm constantly worried that I will ding my razor on the edge of the sink while flinging it around.

This method also gives you the opportunity to save on water too. Just fill the sink up a bit and re-use that water - all the beard/hair collects on the sponge.
