What’s your take on Life of Brian? I find it a bit funnier than the Holy Grail.

I've seen Life of Brian a couple of times. I find the Holy Grail to be funnier. Life of Brian is funny but I prefer The Holy Grail. My opinion doesn't mean one is better than the other. Only that I find one funnier than the other. My son agrees with me. He's 16. I'm 57.

I've also seen both movies, and I think Holy Grail is funnier. Neither is bad or unfunny to me. My preference just happens to be Holy Grail.

In no particular order:
  • Star Wars: A New Hope (original 1977 movie)
  • The Godfather
  • The Godfather 2
  • A Christmas Story
  • On the Waterfront
  • Citizen Kane
  • Taxi Driver
  • The French Connection
  • The Deer Hunter
  • Psycho

For me, Grail is better, but Brian has a much better ending.

Ultimately, it’s like picking between Godfather 1 and Godfather 2 ... not between 1 and 3 or between 2 and 3 ...

Life Of Brian is a 9.91 out of 10. Holy Grail is a 9.90

LOB has the funniest scene of all Python in Romanes Eunt Domus. I mean how can you beat "What's Latin for Romans?"
Then again, the peasant scene, the witch scene and the Swamp Castle scene all come close to that level of brilliance.

Then again, I still laugh myself silly at "he's a wobber...and a wapist...and a pickpocket"

The more I wrote here, the more I realized LOB is just funnier all round.

Oh man. Holy Grail has a ton of hilarious scenes. The killer rabbit. The french castle in england. The knight guarding the bridge. How about the song they sing about brave sir robin who's a coward and he ran away all while riding with the coconuts. I find the Holy Grail conceptually hilarious.

And as far as I'm concerned, they never made Godfather 3. It ceased to exist. It is no more.

French knights...
"C'est un cadeaux"
"What?"
"A present"
"oh, un cadeaux"
"Oui oui, Allons-y"
"What?"
"Let's go"
"oh"

get me every time

You're right. The more I think about Holy Grail, the funnier it is too.
This is why one is a 9.9 and the other is a 9.91

Blazing Saddles also a 9.9

Thanks for mentioning Blazing Saddles. Another “which is better” discussion. I love History Of The World Part I. That definitely belongs on my list. Blazing Saddles is funny but I find HOTW Part I to be funnier.

The line from Josephus to Oedipus might be the smartest and funniest two words in the history of cinema.
