For the first time on this 2 year long odyssey that I have been on, I feel as if I can say that everything finally came together perfectly! The lather, blade angle, pressure everything was spot on and it was shaving nirvana. BBS with no irritation and I am feeling great. Just wanted to share with everyone, since it is you guys who introduced me to DE shaving and have taught me all that I know. Thank you for so willing sharing your knowledge and quite often your belongings with us all.

Ha, sorry...I am participating in the Highlander Challenge, or well I was until I failed due to sleep deprivation caused by a new baby and used the wrong soap two days ago
, but I am still trying to use the same stuff the rest of the month anyways. What I used was my old type Gillette New OC with a feather blade. As for my soap it was simply VDH glycerin melted into my old spice mug with Pinaud Clubman added for scent and the brush was my Omega Pro 49. I followed this with Clubman AS.

How much pinaud did you add into the soap? I'm would love to do the same thing with my VDH deluxe.

Depends upon how shaky I am when it is time to melt the soap
I like a lot of scent in my soaps. So I just go by feel. A lot of folks I know use 10 to 20 drops. Me, I grab the bottle...and start shaking. I have done this with old spice and VIBR as well.Congrats on your success. Isn't it great when things come together?

+1, I can get BBS on my face and chin but the neck is a two pass WTG for DFS or SAS. If I'm feeling dangerously obsessed, I try an xtg or atg but always get ingrown hairs, I'd rather have a DFS than ingrown's and red bumps.

That is a pretty good setup! I get some of my best shaves using that VDH Glycerin soap & also with my Old Type OC..... I think I'll have to use both of them together to get that perfect shave this week!
