Nail Polish on Simpson label?

Ordered My new Ehsan brush rom Bullgoose. They gave me some great advice and the brush arrived within 2days. It came with a bunch of nice samples as well. Those guys are a class act. Highly recommended. I have heard of some people putting nail polish over he simpson label. Good idea? or ridiculous?

I do not know if it is stupid idea.
I just wouldn't do it.

Just use it as meant by the designer and manufacturer.
And yes, the label will come off.

It is designed to be that way, why bother?

The original Simpsons labels were designed to come off, and people would put nail polish on them to prevent this. The newer Vulfix-made brushes have a sturdier label that should stay on.

If painted on, the clear nail polish will "melt" the lable and make the ink in the label run and smear. It's happened to me. So you'll have to dab the nail polish on rather than using painting strokes. If done right, it should seal the label. But know that you're taking a risk.

brush with label > brush with no label > brush with FUBAR'd label

You might want to try an acrylic clear finish like Varathane Diamond finish.

I've been using my Simpson several times a week for over a year now and the label shows no signs of wear.

The old simpson labels were applied with lampblack and they come off. If you use nail polish protector it will preserve it. I've never heard of issues using it unless you use some strange chemical concoction.

I apply clear nail polish to the labels and printing on all of my Simpson brushes. Works great and preserves them both very well, so they all retain their "like new: look.

Just making for less digging for future grooming paleontologists (and preserving knowledge for future generations of Simpson enthusiasts)... :p

lol I thought I was the only one that did this to his Simpson brushes. I felt really lonely in my stupidity for many years up until now. Turns out it wasn't as stupid as I thought I guess. hahaha

Not stupid at all, I think it's wise. I've done it to every Simpson brush I've owned since I bought my Commodore X3 in 2011.

That's pretty encouraging since your collection of Simpson brushes is quite comprehensive. I felt a little extra foolish when I discovered that you can also buy extra stickers if need be from Simpson themselves. It's pretty great that they thought of that too though.

I do recall doing the nail polish thing on my cheap semogue boar brush but the label just became hard and started to lift up in the corners now. It's not a big deal because the brush is pretty rubbish anyway and I just use it lather my head in the shower when I shampoo. hahaha.

Knowing that they sell the stickers, if I could do it over again, I'd only put the nail polish on the ink/engraving and buy the replacement stickers.

good quality brushes do not need nail polish for protection....using their stickers for years for customer repairs or re-knots.
