Mystery Antique Shop Razor...

Hey Guys (and Gals)!

I am starting this thread because today I bought a Gillette razor from an antique store. I will be posting the pics of it in a few days (after I get the gunk off...I can't see a date code or anything on the back...it's thick!). I will need some help identifying it.

However, the bottom half of the case (it came with) has the date of 1944 on it. The razor is unlike my blue tip or super speed, as the knob on the bottom is noticeably separate from the handle (it dips in for a few mm's, then comes back out). The handle and knob don't really have a design, but are rough for gripping purposes.

This doesn't really explain much, the razor was $8, and I will look for something similar to show you until I upload the pics. ANyway, I was wondering if you fellow B&B'ers would be so kind as to help me identify this find of mine! Thanks!

I think we're gonna need a few pics. You can post pictures of it before you clean it. We like before and after stuff.

We need pictures before and after!

Does it look like this? If so, it's a rocket.

Great clean up! Give the little nooks (like the inside of the endcaps) a scrub with a tooth brush and some toothpaste and you should be good to go

Thanks! I found some 'antique' blades from Denmark too, so I'm gonna try them out!

Great find and weclome to B&B.

By the way, I'm not sure what you mean by some "antique blades", but please only use new blades in the old razor. Don't spoil a great shave (and your face) with "old blades"

Very nice rocket. I highly recommend foregoing "antique" blades. If you don't know, yet, which blades you like, I highly recommend buying a razor blade sampler pack from one or our fine vendors.

No kidding. They are these "DALCO" blades from Denmark and it felt like broken glass. So I put in a Feather and the razor felt like heaven!
