What's new

My worst buy ever!

I stumbled into this the other day. I had forgotten about it after throwing it into a box in disgust.

I was cruising ebay one night a few years ago seeing what's what and here's this thing was about to end at just over $40. So I pounced!
I was so amped on grabbing it for less than $50 thinking it was the score of the century.
Well, it landed and the crack was clearly obvious, so I immediately went to the ad thinking I was deceived.
It wasn't as obvious in the pic, but of course the seller had id'd the crack in the blade in the ad and I just missed it. ARRRRGGGHHHHH!!!!! :cursing:
Now I know you're saying to yourself, "Self, what was he thinking? I'd never do that..."
Consider yourself warned...Always read the listing!

Lol, been there (haven't done that though)! I once bid on a razor like that and noticed afterwards the crack, also mentioned in the ad, but not obvious in the pics. Luckily someone else over-bid me!

I suspect the seller was hoping for someone like you to bid without reading the full comments, otherwise its pretty obvious this razor is not salvageable (might be even hard to pull a 4/8 out of it).

Sorry you got caught! Its hard to get this RAD under control sometimes.

Well if you learned your lesson for just $50 I would think you got off cheap. Impulse buying can definitely get on in trouble.

Yep, but I've got alot of great deals, too. I've had more hits than misses. This is just my biggest miss.

I think you can bread knife that out....
She's biiiigggggg - 9/8+ and the spine is 1/4" thick.
The crack is almost 1/2" so it'll take alot of grinding to get thru that.
I was thinking of making a shorty.

Hmm yeah a shorty could actually be not too bad, and it seems you'd be able to save the writing as well... Worth the try!

:I've been there and done that. Without reading the description I thought I was buying an awesome looking razor at an awesome price in the newly listed buy it now section. Turns out that what I bought were the pins that were on the razor!

Yes I saw/clicked on these adds a few times, they are very misleading for sure! There's also the "honing service" adds which display some nice pictures. I guess we have to get used to reading the darn text that is underneath the nice pictures...

I recall seeing that one. There are deals to be had, but when the price seems too good to be true extra caution and examination is in order

I started wet shaving almost 4 weeks ago. On either side of trachea there are patches of beard the directions of which run exactly horizontal, from trachea out. Because of hollows, short neck length, etc, I simply cannot get to these patches with a satisfactory 'against the grain stroke' no matter how stretching and pulling I do.

You sir, have an opportunity. Hie thee to a grinder, and grind the bad boy from tip to crack until you have (what looks like?) a 3/4" long blade. Sharpen it, and see if you don't have the peachiest implement of destruction for hard to reach places. I'm think it'll also make a heck of a nipper for those hairs right directly under the nostrils.
