Since starting DE shaving I have always had something like pimpels occasionally on my neckline, but have never been able to get rid of them. I took a couple of days off from shaving and after a nice shave, I used alum, Thayer's Original, and Clubman. Then, I usually used Nivea Double Action Engery Balm. My face felt soft and healthy and no pimpils. I went back to daily shaving without the Balm and continue to have great results.
I always heard about not putting alcohol on your skin or put a balm on afterwards. I guess my skin is oily and I did not know it or pay attention before DE shaving. I have been alternating Clubman Original and PinMaster Plus (40% VIBR 40% Masters BR 20% Thayer's Original) alone with a week's worth of great skin feels.
Maybe at night I will moisturize but only splash after shaves. So now, I feel the ASAD bug biting hard. I just ordered a Speick aftershave sample, so here we go. I remember having good experience with samples of Trumper's Skin Food. Maybe it was the Nivea.
So for some other folks who are getting some bumps that are not razor bumps or ingrowns, try an alcohol splash w/o following it with a balm.
