My newest score 2 Slims, and one Unknown

I have been lurking around on the bay, and finally got something at a decent price. I am gaga over TTOs, and have dreamed of owning a Slim, lol.
I only paid $50 for the lot.

I am curious as to the identity of the non-Gillette razor though. Also you would think that they would look at the other auctions, and stop putting the base-plates on upside down

Nice metal case (does not belong to that razor)

The one is put together backwards (blade plate is upside down). Looks like a Tech style head. If you take it apart you may find a name on the underside of the blade plate (which is now inside)

I knew the case was wrong, but who knows, it may complete a set for me one day. As soon as I get them in I will flip the base-plate around, and check that out too.

yeah ditto on the GEM handle. I got a very nice gold techoff the bay lately and it had the base plate upside down, probably got it cheaper because of that!

I believe the gold mystery razor is a Star DE.

I haven't seen much on the Star DE razors, but I have seen several posts on Star SE razors. Are they more rare, or just less popular? I like the handle, and from what I have read it shaves just like a tech, so I would think that would make it popular, but I then again it isn't a Gillette. Anywho, do you guys have any idea as to the value of the star? I really just won that auction for the slims, so I may be offering it in the BST, but as I have said I haven't really read much about them to even begin putting a price tag on it.

The Star DE is a nice shaver. Gillette owned the market then, as they do now, and it is just from the numbers involved that we find many Gillettes today and few Stars.

Your earlier version shares its handle design with the 1912 Gem SE, and is not as common as the later Star which has a nice, fat, and deeply knurled handle.

Like the Gillette Tech, the Star DE is a milder razor but is still quite capable of BBS performance when paired with the right blade.

Maybe I will have to try it out before I sell it.

I will also do some reading on Star razors. I was intrigued by a post that said Gillette stole the design of the Tech from them.
