My New Beast and its Mug

Brush and Handle - Whipped Dog 30 mm with Burgundy Handle with knot set at 58 mm.

I'm guessing this is the right place to post as I ordered the brush with the knot not glued in. I measured the hole depth at 11 mm and I played around with coins as spacers then went shopping for washers that would raise the knot 3 mm to 4 mm (quarters were too small around to fit well). I wanted stainless steel, but to find the best fit at very close to 30 mm diameter, I ended up with a zinc plated steel one. It was a M16 washer. It was very close to 4 mm thick. Total knot height before install is 65 mm. If mounted as found loft would be 54 mm (65 minus 11). Adding spacer of 4 mm brings it up to 58 mm. That's as far as I could take it without exposing the knot base.

The Burgundy handle is more Brown than Burgundy, but it still looks really good. Pictures don't do it justice. It has a very regal look to it.

The Mug is a large soup mug purchased from the local Von's (Safeway group).

The difference in size is more in person than the pictures show. The lower pictures show some of my other brushes and the mugs I tend to use them with to help show the scale.

The brush is amazing. The large mug is loaded with Van Der Hagen Luxury soap (it is what I had on hand for a fresh mug). With very little effort the soap exploded into the nicest, richest lather I have ever had from Van Der Hagen. The brush doesn't work as well with the Old Spice mugs (loaded with Conk Bay Rum or Van Der Hagen Deluxe). I'm still getting accustomed to it. I may yet adjust my technique to get it to work well with the smaller mugs. The last picture is brush loaded with lather.
