What's new

My Jeness custom razor arrived!

I've been waiting for this for a while, and it finally got here! And what a beauty it is.

It's a 15/16 spanish point with a 1/4 grind, monkey tail and olive wood scales, made per my request. The blade is incredibly thick, with a heft that has to be felt to be believed. How he took my half-hazard ramblings and made this work of art is simply astounding.

Of course, even the most gorgeous razor in the world is worthless if you can't shave with it, and we all know the proof is in the shave. I have several razors to compare to, some great looking, some sow's ears, but they all can shave well, so how does this one compare?

In a word........ AWSOME!

The heavens parted, angels were singing, and naked virgins prostrated themselves at my feet (ok, well maybe not this part so much, but my wife did give her nod of approval).

It was absolutely the smoothest shave I've had in a while. I'm having to re-define BBS for what I got from this razor.

Wondering what it looks like?

Well, here is the photo Jeness sent me right before he mailed it:

Here's my poor attempt at trying to capture what this razor looks like, but I'm not a photographer and all I have is a crappy cell phone. These just don't do it justice. That's just oil on the blade, btw.

Sorry for the rambling post, but just had to share.

That is an heirloom quality piece. Good for you. If you ever decide to stop shaving I believe you can effectively process swine with that implement.

Thanks everyone! I think me and this blade are going to be spending a lot of quality time together. :biggrin1:

This may actually be the first blade I'll ever send out to be honed when the time comes, as my skills can't come close to the kind of edge that Jeness put on this thing!

For the keen-eyed, or just for a bit of trivia, that's Gamma's Tsushima stone in my first 2 photos.
