My great grandfathers Gillette Aristocrat

I had asked my grandfather a few months ago if he had any old razors from when he was younger. He told me he thought he had a boxed injector but when i came home for xmas this is what he found.View attachment 295738 It is in very good condition and i think it is from the 40s. I used it for the first time yesterday and what a razor it is.... so smooth. Now i need to find one in silver. Can anyone give me some more info on this type of razor. I can post more pics if needed. Thanks!

Great razor !! Even more awesome is that it belonged to your grandfather .. They are wonderful shavers !!

Do you have any idea where and how your great-grandfather acquired it? If you are from Germany, that is.

That razor was in pretty bad shape before I sent it to replate.

My family is from Massachusetts so i think it must have been a gift due to the great condition. I am the only one in my family living in Germany.

What is the average price of a replate if thats ok to ask?

Now that's a great story. Cherish that razor. I have a 1953 (Y2) President that is very similar to your Aristocrat except it's nickel and rhodium plated. It's my mother's birthyear/quarter..... not an heirloom like your's though. Enjoy it.... you're right one when you say it's a smooth shaver.... I find my President to be the smoothest shaver of my bunch with a 40's style Super Speed not too far behind.

The heirloom razors are always very special. While not the epic score, I was lucky enough to get 2 or great grandfathers and 2 of my grandfathers. Slime adjustable and 40's Super Speed, 2 of each, all in working condition. Awesome score, enjoy it for sure. :)

I would love to have a razor from my father, grandfather, or great grandfather.

I have to tell you, that razor is my daily shaver, my absolute all time favorite. You will love it. Don't be afraid to use it, and pass it down to someone after you.
