My First Ivory

I have this TI c135 razor with dark Desert Ironwood scales I was able to source some nice genuine ivory scales.



So I contacted several professionals who do rescaling and restoration work and sent the razor to Glen aka gssixgun to do the job according to my specs (classic TI scales shape, nickel-silver pins and washers and recon turquoise web wedge)..
Here is the result.
Needless to say Glen did an impressive job.

I have to admit that I was skeptical when I first read this as I'm a fan of the ironwood, but I have to admit, the results speak for themselves. The combination turquoise/ivory looks amazing.

I hear you I too am a big ironwood fan but I have Le Grelot in ironwood so it was an easy decision for me.

I just want to make sure that people realize there is Ivory out there that is "pre-ban" as in it was harvested before the laws were passed abolishing it. The pieces I refer to have been officially certified as "legal" to posess. Given the integrity of our Brotherhood, I don't see anyone specifically going after an illegal slab of Ivory.

Not griping, just wanted to make sure you knew this if you didn't already.

Folks - for the record -

The sale and trade of pre-ban Ivory is legal.

If you have an ethical issue with it, you can avoid procuring the stuff, you can lobby legislation to outlaw it entirely, you can go to various other websites and show your support for not using it.

But posting about it here just doesn't belong.

For those who are curious the scales have been purchased from a large and reputable dealer in pre-ban ivory and are completely legal.
