My first DE shave and fatboy questoins

I've been lurking here the last few days. What brought me here is the fact that my old razor (Mach 3 turbo) was getting to be a money hog. So i scoured ebay and i found a Gillette Fatboy, Picked it up for 18 bucks. Well it came yesterday, so i boiled it and so on. Went to the wal-marx and seen they had sword blades. Got a pack of those and so on. Came home took a shower, and hopped out through the a blade in my fatboy lathered up and went at me beard. Pretty close shave i must say.

Although i think my fatboy may of been played with.

My question is, On the 1 setting should the blade have any arch to it?

The answer to your question is yes. The blade will be "arched" in any DE. The settings 1-9 increase the blade gap, but I'm not sure they change the actual arching much.

Thank you sir, makes more sense to me now.

Will have to go home now, and "play" with it.

Welcome to B&B! Congrats on the conversion and first shave.

One word of advice - don't "play" too much just yet. Just work on technique and getting a pretty good shave. After about two weeks, then you can start expanding out to different soaps, blades, creams and what not. Keep your Fat Boy on one setting (I would stay at a 3 or 4) also. Do not introduce too many variables too soon or too quick.

Welcome to the good ship B&B. Take a stroll on the promenade deck and enjoy the voyage. :thumbup1:

Always remember, relax but be vigilant when you shave!

What i mean play with it, is Seeing how the blade goes up and down. I let my father see it and the adjustment on it kept spinning (just needed some tlc) and i gotta figure out where the original settings are on the adjustment.
