My First DE Refurb

Got the two of them on eBay for about $10 each after shipping.
Wish I could have done better in the flea markets, but baking in the sun on the hope you come across a winner is worth the few extra bucks you pay online...

I had read a number of tracks on how to go about the process, so without further ado here are the before and after pics.

I first boiled them for 10 minutes with 2/3 water, 1/3 vinegar.
After a toothbrush scrubbing I used the scrubbing bubbles and scrubbed once more.
Then I filled a glass of Simple green diluted in half, and let it sit overnight.
Took them out in the morning, and scrubbed once last time.
After it dried I rubbed in some metal polish, and voila!!
For maintenance I then soaked them for 30 minutes in a mineral oil bath.

I can't wait to try them out!!
How'd I do? Any suggestions otherwise?
I had a choice of light mineral or heavy (regular) mineral. I chose regular.

Yeah, this is really good. I have trouble getting those stains out of the 40's superspeed handles--they seem to get them pretty easily, as I've encountered many with them.

+1 I have been having the same problem getting the stains out of my 40's. I will be giving your method a try. Great job by the way, those are great looking.
