My experience with using a Sample Pack

In this thread I am going to catalogue the various blades I used from Ntguy and my personal view of them.

The list is as follows
BLUEBIRD, DERBY, FEATHER, Gillette 7 O'clock (Russian), KAI , TRIG, TREET, SUPERMAX (Platinum and Stainless), LORD (Platinum and Super Chrome), LORD S. Stainless, Shark S. Stainless, ASCO S. Stainless, BIGBEN S. Stainless, CROWN S. Stainless .

I am using Merkur as a baseline and will give that a rating of 5 as to start off with, a middle of the line decent blade. Tonight I am going to use the Merkur for the last time in a while. Need a baseline.

Sweet!! I had a thread going like this, while I worked my way through various blades. I look forward to reading your results.

Do you have some method to the madness? How many blades of each type are you going to use before moving on to others? Are you going to keep the rest of your setup consistent throughout the testing?

Today I opened the Big Ben.
Ok so on the shaving front I would give it a 7, I would give it as high as a 8 or 9. But I got a little bit of razor burn and some nicks for the first time in a while, therefore I knock it down. That could be due to my in experience, but I think the blade has some issues.

As I was shaving it was an awesome shave only took 3 passes to get the bbs. However, the blade did dull rather quickly. I am going to follow up and post a review. Cheers and enjoy. I do recommend, will edit this reply over the next 3 shaves with it.

Next Morning, I have noticed that when I did against the grain, I do not have the same irritation I usually received with the Merkur, Yipee! Enjoying the blade atm, will post next shave with it.

Ok so it took a while because i shave about 3 times a week at most. I Just finished with the big ben and I have to say it is a good shave. Very close, but I would say this blade seems better suited for those with a thicker beard. As of now the merkur futur has been amazing. Am going to start with the flying eagle next time eventhough it wasn't in the pack. Cheers!

Looking forward to seeing your results! I know blade choice is very individual, but I'm always interested in blade comparisons, anyway. I kept a notebook on different blades myself, and it's been helpful in reminding me why I don't use certain blades, no matter how much others love them.

Ok so after 2 days of shaving with the Flying Eagle I have something to say.... Do not waste your money on them...
They are terrible, cheap yes, but in all honesty give the $1 you would spend on them to charity, it will benefit you much more. They did trim my beard but did a terrible job at it, not close and much in the way of bumps.

Avoid.... thats my conclusion on flying eagle.

Im keeping the same setting on my razor and I am going to do 4 shaves on each blade and try each one once considering i have 14 of the things to try. I will go back after I go through once and do it again to see if it compares to my initial findings. The rest of the process will be the same, same soap and same cream, same everything else that i can control within reason

This is great! I just bought some 7 O'Clocks from him and am very happy with him as a seller - quick too, from the big city to the plains of NW Kansas. I look forward to your reviews.
