Dear B & B Members:
I won this 'gem' off of Ebay and want to convert it into a Razor & Brush Holder / Stand.

Currently, I have three (2) Brushes & two Razors which I would like to place in the holes provided (razors are no problem...just slip them through the holes).

I realize one can't do too much just by looking at a picture, but how would you convert three (3) holes to accommodate Brushes (maybe using wood-working techniques and 'open' the holes to fit each Brush and ‘slip’ them in from the top  ).

I would use the Jar for Blades, Styptic Pencils, Tweezers, ect...

I'd really appreciate any advice and /or comments :001_rolle

Thanx... :biggrin1:

Ok here we go. Please excuse the crude drawing. I had a few minutes during lunch to throw this together.

The black dots in Fig. 1 represent the holes currently there. The dotted lines represent the cutting that you would do (based on the size of your brush and the diameter of the razor handles). Fig. 2 shows what the end result would look like after the material was cut out.

Also, because of the minimal clearance you have to work with, I would recommend using a drill press vs. using a bit in a handheld drill.

Hanging on the Bathroom wall is my Converted Pipe Holder...Thanx Oldeschool
In the Jar are Chelsea's Unscented Shave Soaps and Derby Extra SS Blades. The Razor is a Merkur 23C, the brush to the left is a C-M Pure Badger, the one to the right is a Parker Black Badger and finally Clubman & Alcohol (for razor sterilization).

On the sink to the left is a Robert Becker Scuttle, followed by a Merkur 38C and a FS Silvertip Brush, and my finally my 'very own' Sterling Silver Baby :001_rolle Cup (because it fits Chelsea's Unscented Shave Soap perfectly...unwrap...in the cup...no hassles...no issues), my Mother gave me (as my family Keepsake), many...many 'moons' ago.

Also, yes..my B & B friends...it's engraved with my name, birthday and this note;

"To Smoke is Human...To Smoke Cigars is Divine"

That is great! I think the jar for hold misc is waaaay better then my scattered mess across the top of a cabinet.

And as a side note, I am very jealous of your large sink.

Looks good to me, and it gives me an idea about my Grandfather's old pipe rack and jar. I'll mess with it this weekend and see what I can come up with. Thanks for the idea :)

You know if they would just make a decent multiable brush holder and sell it a reasonable price we wouldnt have alter existing items and could spend time online buying more soaps and razors ,,, and brushes ,,,, and aftershaves ,,,,and .......

Very nice job and your razor/brush holder looks great in its latest incarnation. I love the big glass jar. Another ultimate effort in recycling and making something useful again. Well done and thanks for sharing.

i think that i looks great and nice work, but being a pipe smoker in me thinks it is a bit wrong. but it is an awesome looking piece

The glass Jar was to hold pipe tobacco...but I turned it into something else

You've pushed me over the edge. Right after the holidays, I'm going to find a spice rack to convert into a brush and razor holder that I can mount on the wall. Thanks for the inspiration!

This is a great idea. I smoke a pipe and just like the RAD I also suffer from PAD. According to the DSM IV that makes me DD (dual diagnosed).

I have several extra pipe stands just sitting around so I'm going to give this a go.
