MWF scent

Is it just me, or is the scent of MWF massively underrated? I feel like the conventional wisdom is that it's close to unscented, or that its scent is just generally "soapy." To me, it's the best scent of any shaving soap or cream, and as distinct (if not as intense) as Tabac. It's also a scent I never experienced previously. By contrast, Castle Forbes Lime has a stunning scent, but I smelled plenty of limes before I tried it.

It has a wholesome scent that is very pleasing to me. I haven't used it for a long time but when I did had trouble with it drying on my face. My shaving skills have improved a lot since then, so maybe it's time to give it another try. :wink2:

I agree. Scent is just that "soapy". First I was disappointed but later started to think about and enjoy just a mild plain quickly fading almost nothing smell. One day I enjoy strong scents and another I almost hate them.

I have to agree that MWF has a distinct soapy scent. Once you figure out the proper way to lather it you will have the best lather around

The first time I smelled MWF, my perception was it just had very mild soapy scent, almost no scent. But later, with use, I recognized more distinctive character in it which I found very pleasant and addictive.

It seems to me to have a light, flowery scent. Don't remember where I smelled it before but, for me, I think of it as a distinctly British scent; refined, civilized, and understated. The scent is possibly my favorite part of MWF.

Its scent is much more complex than it is generally thought of as being. If you look at the ingredients, there at least four "scent" ingredients in addition to "parfum": Hexyl Cinnamal (chamomile scent), Limonene (orange/citrus), Linalool (floral/spiciness), and Hydroxycitronellal (synthetic lilly of the valley scent).

To me, the scent is just kind of "Meh". It doesn't really make me like it any more, but it is also so mild that it doesn't offend me either.

For me personally, scent is something I find more important. There are so many good preforming soaps available right now thru name brands like MWF, DRH, etc and also thru our artisan vendors like Mystic Water, Mike's Natural, QCS. Why would I settle for a scent that is just kind of "Meh" when I can shave with something that has a scent I really love? This is why my puck of MWF has been sitting on the shelf for probably 2 or 3 months.
