Musing of a Travelling "Minimalist"

With the restrictions on what may be carried aboard planes today; I tried leaving the brush at home and have noticed little if any difference in the quality and comfort of my shaves except for razor(s) used (usually an Atra, Trac 2, or Sensor) in lathering using my fingers and I am wondering if they are actually better in terms of feel for my whiskers and working lather into them.

I shave in the shower and since most showerheads have a restricted flow adjustment; it doesn't take much water or time. I shave after shampooing my hair and washing my anatomy from the face down to the feet rinsing my face last to allow the soap to work longer at softening my whiskers. I have a magnifying fog-free travel mirror which uses a suction cup or in lieu of that; touch and feel.

Both soaps and creams have worked well with Pacific Shaving Co. All Natural Shaving Cream being used at present but all other products used have been satisfactory with the only limits being the size of container i.e. 3.5 ounces.

I've come to realize that travelling with a minimal setup is a good idea.
Certainly for overnight to a few days.
I ditched the brush for brushless cream and have never looked back.

The mirror is an interesting twist. I think I might look into that.

Still trying to figure out the best combination. Traveling and shaving don't really mix together well.

I agree with you, knigskr.
When I'm on the road, I shave in the shower by feel using a Sensor and whatever brushless cream I can get my hands on.
Travel for me means that my time in the bathroom is limited, so quick and easy is the way to go. Plus, no hassles with TSA.

I am a hyper minimalist when traveling, it's actually sort of sport/obsession of mine. I tend to go back pack everywhere, including weeks on various other continents. I have gone back to carrying a brush though, with either a shave stick, or travel sized cream. It doesn't really take any more effort, and it fits in my toiletry case so doesn't take any extra space. I end up shaving in the showers at the Admirals Clubs in airports a lot as well, beyond just hotels.
