Muhle R41 v Muhle R89

Hi is the Muhle R41 Double Edged Chrome Safety Razor the Open Comb version of the Muhle R89 Double Edged Chrome Safety Razor ?.

In a way, yes. But characteristics are different.

The R89 has a head designed by Mühle (and is also used by Edwin Jagger) and the R41 has a Merkur open comb head. The R41 can be best compared to the Merkur 15C/25C (short and long handled classic OC) but is better finished and will give you much more a quality feel.

Aside from the comb, is there much difference in the heads? I was leaning towards the r41, but already have a Merkur barber pole, and I've read the Muhle head is something special.

that could be hype to fuel the AD, though.

Aside that both heads are meant for shaving they are rather different. Difference between the R41 and the R89 is bigger than between the Merkur and Mühle safety bar head. Check out the review section!!

When an open comb is new for you the R41 will be a great start!!

Since the Mühle '09 razors are RAD killers you should get them both!

This way RAD is dealt with before it really hits you.

AAAAAAAAAaaaagh I so cannot justify getting both of them. I just ordered the Jagger DE89 (actually the faux ivory 87) and I already know that I'm gonna have to sneak that into the house or else suffer "the look."

AAAAAAAghghghgh. I can't get both of them. I can't justify getting one of them even though I probably will.
