Muhle R41 and R89 top plate

I have been using my R41 base with the R89 top plate. Interesting combo. Has anyone else tried that?

Hadn't thought to try it. What was the result for you? Does it tame some of the blade exposure? I have both but the R41 has been a bit much for me so far. Something to tame it a bit would be nice.

I actually just took both mine apart and compared the caps. The cap of the 2013 R41 is WIDER than the R89 cap, so it would cover more of the blade than the cap of the R89. Have you shaved with your combo? I'm interested to hear.

Yup.
The 2011 R41 had a narrower cap than the R89.
The 2013 R41 is wider.

I knew that the R89 was wider and seems to be a little more curved. I have used the combo for two days and it makes the R41 just a bit milder. I have been using my R41 or Mergress as my daily shavers for over a year. I took out the R89 and swapped the top plate Friday. It is an interesting combo.

I'm using r89 top plate on the 2013 r41 base. I'm not 100% sure that blade is evenly exposed but is definitely more exposed and the razor is bit more efficient. Didn't have problems and cuts, so, in my case, it was worth trying.
