Muhle M106 and R41 Differences

What is the difference between the Muhle M106 and R41 razors? They are both open comb, so I was wondering if the R41 is more "efficient" while the M106 is a little less "efficient."

The M106 looks like it's the same head as the R89, which is a closed comb, relatively mild razor. I don't own one, so I'm just going on the pictures I see on vendor sites. The current model R41 (aka Tooth Comb) model is a semi-open comb razor that is pretty much on the complete opposite end of the spectrum. Lots of blade exposure. They are quite different. See the "Combined R41" thread for more on the R41, or any number of DE89 threads for details on the M106.

Sure you're not confusing the M106 (which by all records seems to be a brush) with an R101, or the R106? The R101 mates a 2011 R41 head with an R106 handle. The R106 is the closed comb version (EJ89) with the same black handle.

Hope that makes sense.

Also "efficient" is highly subjective. I think the term most appropriate is "aggressive". If so the R41/R101 is considered much more aggressive than the 106 or equivalent closed comb.

I did mean the R101 and R41.

Correct, are R106 and R41. I have both and R106 is much milder, it has a closed comb head while R41 is tooth comb. Main difference is on blade exposure and aggressiveness while shaving.
I prefer R41 for my coarse beard.
