Never tried the Nivea cream, and to be honest I prefer soaps, but a few creams have been granted access to my cabinet one of them are Palmolive EU, inexpensive, but a very good performer on par with several of the high end creams I have tried.

Especially when they are on sale at Rite Aid and you get 2 tubes for 7.98, but the regular 4.99 is still very good.
Another vote for Fraser's. Tub will last for a long time.
2nd would be Proraso/CO Bigelow. For $10 at almost any mall, you can't beat it.

Kiss My Face - cheap, performs well and available everywhere.
For me it's Queen Charlotte Soaps cream. I think the lavender is $14 and it works like a $30 cream.
+1 on Bigelow and Real Shave Co. creams.
Most recently I've used Godrej regular and Old Spice original. Both are great performers and the Old Spice smells terrific.

If the silly rules didn't require me to only choose one (I chose Fraser's) the Godrej creams would have been the other mention from me. I particularly like the lime.

Would say Proraso but don't think it's under-rated...actually held in widespread high regard.
Palmolive is really good - I think that's an example of a product which suffers reputationally from a low price point - because it's every bit as good as a lot/most more expensive creams. Those who have tried it don't under-rate it, perhaps those who havn't do.

My 2 answers will be Fraziers and Trumpers Coconut. Although Trumpers Coconut is talked about quite a bit on this site. Still its underrated,IMO. Another would be the creams that Al concocts at Al's the Bomb.

for me Tet-a-Tet, perhaps not so easy to obtain, but it's cheap and produces a wicked lather.
Gibbs or Dalan D' Men. Both are cheap and contribute to a great shave.
