Morning or Night Shave

I've noticed a lot of posts (proportionally) on this forum that mention that the shave was at night. I've just started straight shaving after a year of DE and have never opted for an evening shave. Straight will definitely take me more time at least in the beginning, so I'm thinking about trying it at night. What are the pros and cons (other than the obvious: not BBS in the morning)?

Pros:

Quiet time to take a leisurely shave

You go to bed feeling and smelling great (particularly pro if you have a significant other)

Streamlines your morning routine

Cons:

No BBS in the morning

No "pick-me-up" from strong soaps and bracing AS (although instead of shaving in the morning I now wash my face with cold water and then splash on some EDC or AS)

Stronger 5 o'clock shadow

For me, I do it at night so that I can enjoy it without feeling rushed. Ideally, though, I would do it in the morning.

I prefer to shave right after taking a shower (part of the preparation "ritual" for wet shaving for me), which for me that is in the morning before going to work. I just wake up a little bit earlier than I used to (when I shaved with an electric razor), and thus I have extra time to shave without feeling rushed to finish.

A good straight shave will give you a DFS in the morning. For guys with less than werewolf hair growth you might even have a near BBS in the morn. Ymmv ;)

True, I usually shave around 8pm when we've gotten the kids to bed and I still have a DFS in the morning.

I'm usually a night shaver, as I am always pretty rushed in the morning. My shave still looks pretty good come morning time.

I like night shaving but usually only do it if I'm going out or have an early start in the morning. I prefer morning shaves because I can 'enjoy' the resultant smoothness longer.

I am a night shaver too, it gives me the ability to relax a bit and tune out the world for a half hour. I find it takes longer to do a SR shave but the obvious result is a near BBS shave on my cheeks ATG which I was never able to achieve with DE or carts.

Like some others have said... it doesn't matter day or night, but pick a time when you can relax and take your time. For many guys, the morning is a time when you are rushed and have a bunch of stuff going on... but if you can get up early and get a nice shave with some peace and quiet before all the chaos begins, then go for it.

I almost always shave in the evenings except on the rare occasion when I have to look my best at work. In the evenings I just have more time at my disposal and I do not need to think about what I am going to do next. Besides 12 hours post shave my face still feels absolutely great.

I shave when I shower, which now is after work so we will call it night (I do shift work, so sometimes my night is at 8 am). I work in an ER, and now that I have a baby at home I shower after work to get all the grossness off before picking up my baby. When I made the switch to being a night shaver, I actually started enjoying my shaves because I could take the time to do it right and not feel rushed.

I shave in the early evening. I work in a hospital, so want to shower when I get home and shaving then is just an extension of my routine.

Yeah, I wok in construction and shower when I get home so this is also when I enjoy my shave. You also get the added benefit of being able to sleep in that much more and not be late from a long shower; I also enjoy a long shower after work.

I've been thinking, and the other reason I shave after work is because I would rather have the best shave for my wife and family and the 5:00 shadow at work...

An evening shaver here. I enjoy the good smells and zen like state induced by the practice of shaving. I need something at night to slow me down.

I'm usually a morning shaver because i need to shower as part of my prep to get comfortable shave. I have tried other methods like a warm towel but does not give me the prep i need.
