More shaves on an edge with better technique?

I'm getting very mixed signals on how many shaves I can expect to get from a newly honed razor. Some say 3. Others say 7-10, and yet there are 2 threads on this forum from Doc and Paco where members are getting 130+ shaves on an edge and he's still getting HHT4-5. Rather than asking "how many shaves should I get on an edge", which I know to be an impossible question to answer, let me ask this - do you get more shaves from an edge now than you did from an edge when you were just learning? In other words, has your improved shaving and stropping technique increased the longevity of your edge?

The answer from me is a resounding YES!
A poor shaving angle can dull a blade just as fast (or faster!) than sub-par stropping. Of course, YMMV :tongue_sm

One more yes here, for sure. I don't think I'm ever going to get 130 or anything though! Who knows, maybe one of these days.
Usually 2-3 weeks on the same razor I'm ready for at least a slight touch up... 30 laps on a pasted strop or something.

Edit- I should add that I'm not a daily shaver either, maybe 5 shaves a week.

I just tried to figure out the longevity of my own edges. With only 77 shaves spread over 13 razors, my sample size is too small, but I'm averaging about 6 shaves per razor, with that number higher for wedges and slightly lower for hollow grinds.

I'm pretty sure that as long as I keep buying razors, I won't have to worry about the answer to your question. But I think the answer is yes, too.

Lol.

As for the question, yes. Proper shaving and stropping technique will have a drastic increase in longevity.

I’m stumped
YES. It won't happen overnight but it will happen.
The only thing that stops me taking my razors that far between honing, is my need to feed my honing hobby.
