Last night’s ethereal shave

Personna GEM PTFE (1)
Damp facecloth aka “shave binky”
AP ShaveCo Dinosaur G5C 28mm synthetic brush
Pre-shave: warm shower
Lather: VDH Luxury Scented bowl-loaded; face-lathered
Aftershave: Ulm Nom
Post-shave: face wash with shave binky and a drop of hyaluronic acid
Post-shave: Equate moisturizer

With a slightly neutral angle and a fresh GEM blade, my Travel Raptor SE scrubbed away my stubble with only the scalloped safety bar being felt. I must’ve used too much pressure on my sideburns if my aftershave is to be trusted. Will see if the GEM lives again next shave.

Modern May shave #1 rated 10/10 using:

• Razor: Lambda Athena (superb)
• Blade: 1970s Personna 74 (5)
• Brush: Omega 10098 Barber’s Boar
• Pre-shave: Noxzema
• Soap: Razorock Mudder Focker
• Post shave: Thayer’s unscented Witch Hazel followed by Old Spice splash and Stirling Christmas Eve balm

A typical excellent, super-efficient Lambda Athena shave to a BBS finish in two passes plus very minor touch ups. The Personna 74 blade still feels fresh. The Mudder Focker soap, which I bloomed just by getting the surface wet, exploded into lather when I hit it with the Omega Barber's Boar. Wonderful experience.

What about cartridge razors? What's more modern than these. I have several, and enjoy using them all. My go to razors are Dorco 3 and Dorco 7. My daily shave usually starts WTG with a Dorco 7, then ATG with a Dorco 3, and finishing with a Dorco 7 in a Dorco power handle.

If your razor is from 1974 or newer, then, yes, they should be celebrated in this thread.

What's more modern than these.

I used my Brass Blackbird Lite this morning with a vintage Wilkinson Super Sword Stainless (8), Proraso Green, Brute, and Muhle Aloe Vera balm. I really enjoy this razor. So much blade feel, yet so smooth.

Post-shave: Equate moisturizer

Lathered up and went to town with the safety bar leading the way. As a slow, plodding fellow, I was happy to get my shave done; including using my razor after cleaning it and then cleaning it again; and putting toys away in eight minutes. Can’t wait to do it again.
