Mirabilia vs Darwin Deluxe - photos to document similarities and differences

Since these two razors are often pointed out by DE afficinionados as being very similar I wanted to post some pictures and data for others to refer to in terms of design and visual similarities.

To me the two razors are indeed very similar in general design as well as in use even: I noticed when first shaving with my Deluxe that the handle is very heavy towards the bottom end. And the Mirabilia is the same. This means for both that the overall balance of the razor is slightly different from ‘normal’ razors. You need to adjust for this but it is no problem whatsoever. And the very intriguing effect is that upon the end of each stroke the razor very easily lifts off the face, almost automatically, creating a very nice safe feeling.

As the photos documents the designs are very much alike, where the main differences to me are (1) the general shine of the material/plating; and (2) the handle curvature.

I typically lean towards Italians for looks, but in this case the Brit steals the award handily!

Interesting how in the first pic the Mirabilia seems so much longer than the Darwin. Also in pic four the length difference sees to be more than just 1mm. Probably has to do with the sleek handle.

Yes, Richard, very interesting with the handle length, I literally measured it like ten times because I kept thinking that the Mirabilia would be quite a lot longer! It really seems that way. But it’s not. They really are almost the exact same length. Think you are right that the visual trick has to do with the changing width of the handle.

As for looks... My vote also goes to the Brit even if the Mirabilia is really great looking in real life.

And still, as for looks as well as shave, none of them beats THIS
