Minor watch repair needed

Hi guys

I need some help. My wife bought me a cheap invicta for Christmas as a beater.

We both love the look and it was going great. But while working during the basketball tourney the crown and stem popped out. Luckily I found them but when I tried to put the stem back in, the crown broke off.

I like the look and would love to get the watch repaired. It is under warrenty but ive seen so many horror stories about their lack of customer service and poor repair quality.

Anyone have a suggestion? My local jeweler wont touch it

Unfortunately, these are cheap watches. Plain and simple. They are usually not worth repairing. Do yourself and a favor and get a Gshock.

Well, I partially agree with Austin but since it was a gift from your wife, I'd get it repaired at a shop. If it's the stem it shouldn't be too much. You can give it a gamble and contact customer service.
Having a "sports" watch like a G-Shocks is great for working out and doing sports. It's another excuse for a watch.

Sorry about your troubles... unfortunately, broken Invicta is a common problem. You can send it in to their service department, but you will be without a watch for several months and it may come back in the same or worst condition. You can find a local watchmaker and see if it can be repaired, which may cost more than the watch, depending on the movement. Or you can dump it and get yourself (or get your wife to get you) a Seiko or Citizen.

That was the plan (vostok or seiko) but she was concerned about getting the wrong watch and the seiko 5 we both like costs 3 times as much.

It is not always as easy as dump it and get a watch you (post responder) would prefer.

We know the brand. We know the issues. But we both like the look of the watch. That's what it's all about right?

I am just asking for help in trying to get it fixed without sending it to invicta (and it taking forever or coming back worse)

When I can afford my seiko 5, ill get it. Same with the vostok I want.

Thanks for understanding

I have owned more than one Invicta in my time.

My wife had one that she loved (women's auto diver) but it never did run right. We sent it back to Invicta and it came back in the same condition as when we sent it out. I doubt that they even touched it.

I took it to a local watch repairman that I know and he took it apart and got it running but it didn't last. I think it lies in her junk drawer now.

Other Invicta models lasted ten years. Kind of a crap shoot with that brand.

I now own a Seiko Monster with a black dial and that watch has been astoundingly rugged and accurate. Everytime I start thinking of getting a new watch, I look down at my left wrist and quickly come back to my senses.

You might consider ordering a cheap set of watch repair tools and trying to fix it yourself. I am sure there are videos on the net that would walk you through the process.

Regards.

I second fixing it yourself. I ordered a cheap repair kit and have changed about a dozen batteries and made a few small repairs like yours. From my limited experience, I have seen that most stems are held in by a small catch/button.
