Military safety razor

I recently aquired a military safety razor from The Gold Manufacturing Co. with a patent from 1910 but I am uncertain to the exact date for this razor. Since I could not find any pictures of this razor here at B&B I thought I would share some photos (bare with me, its my first photos of a razor). Here is the box that is in very rough condition, but the button that says "military safety razor" is nice

Here is the inside (one wall of the box missing)

Front

I noticed that the gold plating on the front is intact but on the handle it is not in such a good state, explanation for this?

Notice the totally flat razor head. The 3 piece solution is also special, it releases when you push the front down (spring in the handle) and twist from each other.

Thanks, I missed those two threads when I searched for more info. Your pictures of the SE variant of this razor shows striking resemblens to my DE razor, only the top plate differs between the two. It explains the flat top on the DE razor.

I have one just like that that I picked up at a flee market. Never found any info on it though.

Nice find. I would guess it is WW I vintage from the look of things. Just a guess but probably close.

The amount of workmanship from the past is amazing. I'm talking about the box alone. Leather covered wood with tongue and groove joints!

I would imagine they were probably issued to troops in the military which would mean no price tag. I recall Gillette producing razors for the military as well and I'm pretty sure they were also issued too.
