Mick's Grinder Family Portrait

Busy last couple of days putting in a new HVAC system at Rancho el Micko so not much time to post on B&B since last Sat.....

Just finished rebuilding my first grinder (Baratza Maestro) that I had put away several years ago when it started making "thumping" noises.

Anyway another thread will be started for the rebuild, this one is for the most recent family portrait.

You could open a few coffee carts! Got an overall favorite? desert island thing...

The Mazzer is the best at getting a very fine and consistent grind for espresso. The Hario hand grinder is a great fine espresso grinder but it takes 5-7 minutes of cranking to get a single shot worth of fine ground coffee out of it (slow and steady gets it done quicker than fast and furious).

All of the Baratza grinders are pretty much in line with each other as far as doing a good job for everything else (fine to coarse pour over and heavy coarse french press grind).

Desert island? Probably one of the Baratza grinders and a Chemex or other pour over. Don't think I could live on espresso alone, gotta have that smooth pour over coffee to get through a day.

Newest addition arrived today. Kyocera CM-50 (on the right) next to a Hario Mini

Wow Mick. Get them all going at the same time and you wouldn't have to drink coffee. Just breathe the air.

I was thinking about the strong family resemblance between all those electric grinders. Same funnel head shape and the "I gonna pump you up" body. Looks like two kids have joined the clan, but they have a lot of growing to do. ;-) Nice family portrait.
