Method Bloq Shave Cream for $1.00

I haven't had a chance to shave with it yet, but my local Big Lots store (a close-out retail chain) has Method Bloq Green Mint Shave Cream for $1.00 (8 oz. package). I'll give it a try tomorrow morning and see how it works out. It certainly smells nice and even if it's just an average performer, the price is certainly a bargain. If I like it, I'm going to have to go back and stock up.

Gave it a try this morning. Worked up lather in a bowl with a silvertip badger brush. It wasn't quite as easy as with my usual creams (KMF and Proraso), but I might need more experimentation with the water/cream proportions.

It gave a nice shave, provided good lubrication and cushion, and left my face mildly moisturized. Really nothing special, performed well, and worked as advertised. The only criticism I had is with the scent...it's a generic minty smell with some odd background aromas that I couldn't quite place. It's not bad, but it's nothing that excites me. Once rinsed off, the scent was mostly gone.

I may give it a few more tries but I think I might pass on stocking up on this cream. There are better, more luxurious creams out there with finer scents.

I double-checked the manufacturer's web site and it appears that this cream is no longer being produced (which is probably why I found it in a closeout store). If someone is on an extremely tight budget and you can find it locally, $1.00 for an 8 oz. container is a great deal for a serviceable shave cream.

I agree. I think it is worth the $1, but it is no Tabac. I am quite happy with the results I get from using this stuff.:thumbup1:

I gave it another try this morning and I'm having second thoughts about this cream. Lathered up easily in a bowl, provided a nice BBS shave, and the aroma was actually quite pleasant. Maybe my nose was having a bad day the last time!

I think I'm going to stop by the Big Lots on the way home tonight and see if they still have any left.

Picked up two of the mint and two of the "citron leaf" this evening. If nothing else, they might become "collectibles" since they're no longer in production!

I initially had some trouble finding them in my local BL store since they were not on the regular shelves, but in an end-cap display along with a bunch of similar appearing Method Bloq body washes, lotions, etc. The packaging is quite different from a normal bottle...it's a square plastic container in bright, gaudy colors, and not very well labeled.

Tried two BL stores down here but they have not received any.

Geeze, talk about poor product packaging/labeling. That's probably why it's in BL...no body bought it, because no one knew what it was.

Just purchased both scents at Big Lots, signed up for a Big Lots rewards card (free) and saved 20% so they cost me .80 each plus tax. Very inexpensive but when trying out for the first time got a very thin lather with my VDH boar brush, used a generous amount of cream, about a double almond size and added water to it several times but never did see a good lather. I will try combining with other soaps next to see if it can be saved.

I'd say I used 3-4 times as much product as usual, and the shave was "ok" but the scent was odd. I gave mine away. Not a a fan.

I tried this stuff again this morning (the Citron Leaf scent) and despite spending 5 minutes trying to whip this thin cream into something resembling a usable lather, just ended up with a runny, white paste with zero lubrication and almost no cushioning. Yeah, it was a bargain, but it's really not worth even $1.00 for 8 ounces. I just pitched both containers into the trash. Life is too short to screw around with lousy shaving creams.

I did manage to complete my shave, but it certainly wasn't one of my better efforts. At least I was able to avoid any cuts, weepers, or skin irritation.

I have a serious weakness for shaving cream and soaps so when I saw this thread I made a note to stop by the local big lots and see if they had any of this stuff, surprisingly they did. However upon closer inspection I decided to give this cream a pass, Odd since I never really pass on a product i havent tried ( I recently bought a tube of Braukmann Classic at Marschalls, I had never heard of it but its kinda nice smells gd and lathers well) especially for a dollar but there was something about this stuff that really just screamed not worth it. Maybe the odd shaped container or the fact that it was pink.
