Metal handled shaving brush owners

Would appreciate comments from owners of metal handled shaving brushes. I am considering a Shavemac 303 and am wondering what people love and/or hate about their metal (specifically aluminum) handled brushes.

Regards
Karl

I haven't had any issues with my metal handle brush. Of course I have no other brushes to compare it to yet, but I have never had any issues with it getting too hot or being too slick at least. I am not sure what other issues there would be though.

I have an AoS Engraved Silvertip, and because of the added weight from a metal handle, I reserve my metal brush for weekends as a sort of luxury brush. I don't think it makes as good a workhorse as my Simpson Tulip 3. This could also have to do with hair loft/stiffness.

I love the weight of the metal handled brush. It just feels substantial.
It can be a slight bother if you put your brush in really hot water to soak, because it does absorb that heat well.
Fortunately, it also cools off quickly.
Other than that minor issue, I wouldn't trade mine for any I've seen.

As with all brushes the shape of the handle is important when it comes to hanging onto it when the lather starts overflowing.Metal becomes slick with lather so you'll need one of three things in a metal handle:1.a firmer grip.2.Knurling similiar to a super speed.3.multiple channels for your fingers. The third option is what I have. Here's a pic.If I were to get another brush with a metal handle I would commission a machine shop to lathe one for me with checkering.

Hey - How'd you get my brush?

I have the exact same handle with boar bristles.
Small world, eh?

Picked it up at a antique show.I think the original knot was golden retriever cause it stunk like a wet dog when I got it wet.So I promptly refitted it with a new 20 mm silvertip.

Thanks all for your responses ... was wondering if there were any "gotchas" that hadn't occurred to me.

I guess the next question I need to address is whether to get the brush in Finest, Silvertip or D01 badger ....

:)

To close off this thread, I did a complete 180 and ordered a Plisson HMW in size 10. Faux ivory handle. It should arrive on the 12th and will do a post of impressions.
