Merkur Vision is it worth it?

I am in the final decision hours on purchasing a Vision today. So my question is for Vision owners, is it worth the $160 or not?

Turtle raves about the shave, he has never steered my wrong but after reading ub on it, it seems to require a lot of maintainance. I love my futur and my mergress. Mergress is a progress with an after market upgrade, both give me great shaves with the mergress nudging out the futur.

I like mine. I can say that it's worth it for me, but it may not be for you. I think it's a better value than the Feather ASD1 because it's adjustable and more of an aggressive shaver. However it's not all stainless. Like anything it's YMMV. So you have to buy it to try it.

I just got one a couple of weeks ago. The shave is great. It's meant to come apart and put back together easily for the maintenance. Keep in mind that it's a big razor. Like everything else it's YMMV.

I bought it this afternoon and cannot wait to give it a test run later tonight.

I just took it for a first shave and it was a pretty good shave passable. It is difficult to get under the nose, I have to use my 180 to grab this spot. I found after my 3rd pass that the slower the better with this heavy razor.

I hear Turtle loves his and his experience is much greater than mine. However, I went with the Futur instead because of the lower upkeep. I did it within 6 weeks of starting so my inexperience pushed me towards the simpler adjustable. I love the Futur and don't regret the purchase but my next upgrade will be the Vision.

When't through a bit of a learning curve with mine, tried various DE Blades, but finally settled on Polsilver Super Iridium or Voskhod. Both give a fantastic shave,no pressure is required let the weight of the razor do it's work. Enjoy

congrats! I will prob get one for my birthday! Glad you keep the 180 around, fantasic razor, I think it gets a bad rep for being a begineer razor, but I use it still and find it the best razor that I own.

@K4D I feel the same way. With all of the razoes I have bought the 180 still gives me the best shave.

I have it and I have medium hard water, and I need to clean it sometimes not every week, and mostly at the end cap, it's a great razor with silo door practical fun and top heavy :thumbup1:

Well tonight was my 4th shave with this beast and again I keep having to go back with my beloved 180 to get a bbs shave. Another wasted $150.00 I am all about results and quick results. I have come to the conclusion that maybe I need to stop spending $200.00 + per week on razors only to go back to my 180. This VISION is officially going into my razor graveyard for the grandkids to play shave with bladeless of course. I was positive this one was going to be the one. So far over the last two weeks I have gone through the following Merk slant, Merk Futur, Merk progress long handle and now this Vision.

Just because a razor is expensive does not mean it will work for you.

If your Merkur 180 works, why are you looking for something else?
