Im actually looking for pros and cons for each shaver and as a novice at DE shaving, I have read that they are both great shavers but would like to make an informed purchase without any regrets.

IMO an adjustable razor is one too many complexities for a new DE shaver. The Futur in particular seems to lead to blood loss.
But by all means decide for yourself. Spend some time reading the older threads (http://www.google.com/search?q=site:badgerandblade.com+futur) and see what you think.

The HD is a good razor to start with. Some people find it to be everything they need and never try another. The Futur is heavier and has a large head that some find difficult to maneuver. The Futur is adjustable but some find it a little aggressive even on its lowest setting. Others have started with a Futur and use it as the standard against which to measure other razors.
HD: small, solid, simple to master - great for beginners.
Futur: large, heavy and more aggressive. IMO also ok for beginners, just leave the adjustable setting on one.
I personally started on a futur, love it and still use it. However, it is more aggressive, and I usually wait till I have a few days growth before pulling it out.

I own both a Jagger 89 and a Polished Futur - they are as different as can be! The 89 is well-made, light, easy to maneuver and a good razor.
The Futur is hefty and solid, with a unique design, and even on #1 is more aggressive than the 89. That being said, many here have started with the Futur as a first razor and praise it.
I like and use them both. Another who answered posted a link; take a look and decide. Or do like most of us: but them both, LOL!!!

Let's face it: eventually you will end up owning them both...
Both the HD and the Futur are razors any serious wetshaver should at least try. The HD was my starting razor, I then quickly moved on to a Slant and 11c as well as Futur. The Futur is now the razor I use the most.
But then again I have recently discovered the greatness off Schick Injectors....

The HD is a great razor, and as has been mentioned, you may never need another. I started with the HD until I found the Merkur 1904. The 1904 has become my go to DE, and the HD has been regulated to backup status. In fact I tried using my HD today, and while it does give a fine shave, try as I may it just can't beat the 1904. And that is IMHO, YMMV. 
The HD will give you a shave so close that your five o'clock shadow won't show up until 7 PM. The Futur will give you a shave so close that your five o'clock shadown won't show up until 7 AM the next day! You also won't have any little bumps, pimples or moles because it will shave them off. - A nice compromise between the two IMO is a Progress, or better yet, a Mergress.

I'd go with the 1904 myself, in nickel. I just traded my HD for one, so I could put the 1904 head on my cooncatbob handle. I'm not sure why, but I prefer the 1904 head. It almost feels just ever so slightly less aggressive.
Lots of good advice on this thread. Listen to it! I have both the HD and I love both. I particularly love the Futur, but the HD is my third favorite razor (with a 1962 Gillette Adjustable being my second favorite razor).
