Merkur 39c Slant or Merkur Futur

Hey Guys,
I was thinking about buying one of these razors but seeing as if I didn't limit myself my bank account would feel a hurt, I was wondering what you guys thought would be the best pick. I have been DE shaving for about a year now and am just looking for something new to enjoy. Also, if they give a similar shave, is the 20 dollar difference I will pay between the two worth it?

the futur is a very heavy razor and even on its lowest setting it is still more aggressive than the 38c (seems that way for me at least). my first DE razor was the futur. first few shaves were not great and there was some blood loss and plenty of profanity. the 38c was purchased soon after and I loved my shaves from that. then I went 'back to the futur' and found that my shaves had improved, I had also dialled back to setting 1.

if you are comfortable with DE shaving and have a reasonably dense/heavy growth then the futur is a great choice if you MUST CHOOSE ONE ONLY. if you have a lighter growth etc go for the 38. both will give you a great shave. the futur will allow you to some flexibility from the lowest setting to something approaching a shave with a scythe if you dial it up.

I say get both but if you must choose then it depends on your skill, your beard, how often you shave and how adventurous you want to be. the futur is one razor you must always concentrate with and have good technique, the 38 will cut you some slack.

(imthegoal is on the money - I'd get a Hoffritz or Merkur slant if I were you!)

Both might be the very option I choose! I am fortunately heavily addicted to safety razor shaving. Imthegoal, let me know what you think. Also, the only thing I dislike about the futur is the snap on top. Do you know of this being a problem after some use?
