Merkur 39c: Does anyone use it for blade buffing?

I just received my Merkur 39c this morning. For the last 10 months I've been rotating between a 34c, Mergress XL and a DE89. I do a lot of blade buffing around my chin and jaw line because the hair grows in all different directions. Was wondering if it's possible to do so with the 39c or is it just too aggressive/not designed for that? I know this will be the most aggressive razor I have used so far since I've never gone past 4 on the Mergress XL.

you can blade buff with any DE/SE...mantic59 on youtube has a video about "blade buffing"

I know what blade buffing is, and do it often with my other DE's. My question was specifically in reference to the 39c slant razor and blade buffing.

Toothpick

Needs milk and a bidet!
its hard to believe he even has a blade in that razor. i dont think im ready for that technique yet.

I have the 37C and blade buffing daily around the chin has to be done. It is no different than buffing with a 34C. Keep the contact light as with any DE razor. The sound of the blade cutting and maintaining the correct angle should be your guide.

I agree, same as any DE. I do diagonal buffing on my neck and mustache regions.

It looks like he gets a few tiny nicks in that video.

Regarding aggressiveness of the 39c: I have one and I also recently purchased a mergress. Personally, I think the mergress on 4 is more aggressive than the 39c. I love both razors and have buffed with both.

Good luck!
