Hi - I confess I am a newbie and have started to be infected by all of the AD's. With that in mind I purchased a Merkur 38C after recommendation and reading up a bit. I knew I was to get one in the mail today so I did a quick 1 pass shave (as good or better than any of the cartridge shaves I used to get) and planed to "test drive" my new toy. I had a late lunch so I thought why not give it a go. I put in a new Derby, did a quick wash, and hot wash cloth for a minute or so and off we go. I did one pass with a few touch ups here and there and I have to say I was very pleased with the results. I really appreciated the feel of the Merkur (I have been using one of the plastic and metal Feather razors). As of this moment, I am quite sure I'll give the Feather to my son and keep the Merkur for my daily razor.
I will be going to Germany later this year and plan on looking around the shops there for another razor (or two) and some shaving products. AD I know
but I am so very pleased by the results I have been getting with a nice badger brush, various creams, some feather blades, and now the Merkur 38C you would have to pry my cold dead hand from using my DE (my other cold dead hand would have my Beretta .45)
