Merkur 34c hd & 11c

I am thinking about buying MERKUR 34C HD and I have read that the 11C has now finished production. I'd like this as an OC companion to the 34C. Where can I buy one now?
I understand the 11C has the same OC head as the 15C. Will the 34C handle fit the lighter 15C should I fail to pick one up? The 15C is still for sale.

Thanks, A

I have the Merkur 11C, it's my daily shaver. You are right that it - as well as the other two-piece open comb Merkurs - has gone out of production. I got one of the last ones from thesuperiorshave.com, I don't know if any can be found anymore. I'd say that your best bet is the BST here on B&B.

The 11C is like an open comb version of the Merkur HD, and gives a mild but efficient shave. The 34C handle will not fit the 15C OC head, since the 34C is a two-piece razor, i.e. the guard plate is fixed to the handle, whereas the 15C (and the longer handle OC 25C) is a three-piece. But I think that Merkur use the same head geometry for all their OC razors, so you would probably get a similar shave from the 15C/25C as from the 11C, the only difference being the weight, feel, and look of the handle (and a different loading of blades in a three-piece as opposed to a two-piece razor).

For a matching pair, get a 33C and 15C, or a 23C and a 25C if you prefer longer handles. All are still in production.

+1 - what Thott said. I believe Merkur used the same head in the 11C, 15/25C and their open-comb 1904 razors.

You may want to pick up a 15C or a 25C for the flexibility of using a different handle. I have a 25C in reserve (haven't used it yet) that feels really light. If I pick up a different handle I bet it would perform similarly to an 11C.
