Mead - any recomendations?

None. All the big commercial ones are horrid.

There's a true to the fruit winery near my place does does meads and melomels and pyments that are pretty respectable but the good stuff with be done by homebrewers.

Where are you located?

My recommendation is make some yourself! I've made a few batches and they turn out surprisingly well. Otheriwse I can't recommend any; there are so few out there that it's hard to compare. I'd suggest trying to find a local meadery. Let us know how it goes.

I was going to answer "no," too. I am sure there must be someone somewhere doing some great small scale meads--there is not reason why mead should not be good--but I would say any national brand that exists and I have ever come in contact with is horrid.

Your best bet is a local winery or something along those lines. If not, mead is very easy to make on your own, since we're basically talking about mixing water, honey, and yeast. Northern Brewer sells ingredient kits for the stuff, although you'll still need homebrewing equipment.

EDIT: :devil2: My 666th post! Hooray!

Well done Gollum, i dont think i could think of a more epic topic to do your "satan post" on ,

and on another not,
in canada, theres is

Alley Kat brewery, they make a raspberry mead, its pretty fruity and not really like a traditional mead, but

they do have a seasonal mead, its cinamon spice or something of that nature, very tasty, just look up alleykat brewery,
its located in edmonton and they have a list of places
http://www.alleykatbeer.com/vendors.html in both calgary and edmonton that stock their stuff,

i know this doesnt help the americans but should help any albertans :)

I'm in Nebraska. I have a chance to attend a workshop on mead making next month, but I've never had the stuff so I don't know if I even want to make it.
