Any info on this kikuokan?

Just picked this up, still needs some work done on it. Can’t find too much info online about the brand and “gold steel.” Anyone have any insight? Good steel? Pretty new to straight razors, but the blade is pretty hefty.

Actually, good Japanese razors, though yours appears to have had a hard life, with a ham fisted honer. A layer or two of tape will make up for the lost steel.

The “Gold Steel” was likely marketing, but their steel is good. Have several, good shavers.

That looks to have been "honed" using a power tool. By all means give it a shot fixing it up, but I feel that the damage may make things difficult for you.
